Lenore Alford

Lenore Alford holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance (emphasis Sacred Music) from The University of Texas in Austin, where she studied with Dr. Gerre Hancock. Her first organ studies were in her native Canada, with M. Bernard Lagacé; she has given concerts in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City, Austin, Berkeley, San Francisco, and New York City, and presented her scholarly research on composer, organist and pedagogue Rolande Falcinelli at the national convention of the AGO in Boston, 2014. Since 2009, Dr. Alford has been Music Director at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ross, in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is founder of the St. John’s Choir School for children, now in its fifth year; she also conducts the St. John’s Chancel Choir and a women’s choir devoted to the plainchant of Hildegard of Bingen. Dr. Alford champions women’s organ and choral compositions and is committed to promoting these works in worship and recital.
