Charlotte Beers Plank maintains an active life as a mom, musician, and maternal mental health advocate in Northeast Ohio. She is the Associate Director of Music & Organist for First Congregational Church (UCC) in Hudson, Ohio, where she has served since 2015. She enjoys playing the 1991 Wilhelm organ there, and frequently looks for outreach and educational opportunities to spread her love of the pipe organ. She currently directs two children’s choirs, a women’s ensemble, and accompanies a mixed choir, men’s ensemble, and assists with the handbell ensemble. Since 2019, Charlotte has also maintained a teaching studio for piano and organ.
Charlotte earned a Bachelor of Music in organ performance and Bachelor of Arts in German studies from Oberlin College & Conservatory. She studied organ at Oberlin with Jack Mitchener and David Boe. Prior to that, she studied organ with Ralph Valentine in West Hartford, Connecticut. Both in 2010 and 2011, Charlotte studied organ and sacred music in Southwest Germany, studying with Ulrich Feige and Johannes Mayr. Charlotte served as the organist for Christ Episcopal Church in Oberlin, Ohio from 2010 to 2015. In 2015, she received her Master’s in Library Science from Kent State University. She lives in Twinsburg with her husband and 4.5-year-old son.
